CURRICULUM VITAE
Pauline Marx successfully completed a degree in English translation at the ITV Hogeschool in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 2005, by passing the Dutch national translators exam (‘SNEVT'). The same year she was sworn in as translator for the English language at the District Court of Utrecht and she is registered in the Dutch "Register beëdigde tolken en vertalers".
Before Pauline started her degree in English translation, she worked as a scientist at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Pauline studied Biology and obtained her PhD in Medicine at Utrecht University in 2001. Her work as a scientist included writing scientific papers and grant proposals, usually in English. She also supervised the research of PhD students and bachelor and master students and taught them how to write papers and present research data.
She broadened her language knowledge over time by staying in various countries, including a French language course at Montpellier University, France, for a year and she lived and worked in England and Canada.
Pauline combined her jobs at the university and at Marx Translations, To The Point for five years. At the beginning of 2010, she decided that the time had come to fully pursue her career as a text specialist. |
